TOLEDO, Ohio — Fire crews have returned to the scene of a roof fire at the Libbey Glass plant in north Toledo.

Workers noticed smoke in the building on Monday night and Toledo Fire and Rescue Department were called back to handle an area that had begun to burn again, according to TFRD Pvt. Sterling Rahe.

Insulation started burning again, causing the smoke. Crews are now working in the same area as earlier this afternoon to knock down the fire, but over a slightly larger portion of the roof than before.

The building on the 1200 block of Buckeye Street was evacuated as a precaution during the initial fire.

Toledo police arrived on the scene at 10:27 a.m. The fire had begun in the upper part of the building. Some parts near the vents and onto the roof were smoldering, police said.

Authorities say the evacuation had to be done methodically due to blast furnaces in the area of the fire.

No one was reported injured.

Crews are investigating what caused the fire.
